Implementing the AI-assisted POPBL Model at SMA Negeri 6 Malang: A Two-Month Research Experience

For the past two months, I have been conducting a very interesting research at SMA Negeri 6 Malang. The main focus of this research is to see how the AI-assisted Problem-Oriented Project-Based Learning (POPBL) model can affect students' AI digital literacy, creative thinking skills, and communication.

In the ever-evolving world of education, AI is no longer just a technology of the future-it is already all around us and is beginning to play a role in various aspects of learning. However, to what extent do students understand and are able to utilize it optimally? This is what I want to explore through this research.

Why POPBL and AI?
POPBL is a project-based learning model that is problem-solving oriented. By adding AI to it, I wanted to see if this approach could help students:
✅ Improve AI digital literacy - Not just recognize AI, but understand how it works and its benefits.
✅ Develop creative thinking skills - Encourage students to think out of the box in finding solutions.
✅ Strengthening communication skills - Because in POPBL, teamwork and discussion are key to the success of the project.

How Did This Research Go?
I divided this research into several stages, starting from initial observation, pre-test, application of AI-assisted POPBL model in learning, to post-test and interview. I saw firsthand how students interacted with technology, how they worked in groups, and how they conveyed their creative ideas.

As it turns out, I found many interesting things! Students who were initially unfamiliar with AI started to show interest and courage to explore further. They not only learned theory, but also practiced how to use AI to complete the projects they created.

Interim Results and Reflection
Although this research is still in the data analysis stage, I see positive changes in the way students understand AI and apply it in learning. They are more confident in communicating ideas, more creative in solving problems, and certainly more aware of the importance of digital literacy in this technological era.

For myself, the experience of conducting this research is also very valuable. Interacting directly with students, seeing their development, and understanding how technology can be applied in education provides great new insights.

🌱 Education is constantly evolving, and technology like AI can be an amazing tool if used appropriately. I hope this research can contribute to developing more innovative and relevant learning methods in this digital age.

What do you think? Does AI really need to be applied more widely in education? Let's discuss in the comments! 😊✨
